Dr. Karan brings with him over thirty years research experience ranging in scientific modalities. He specialized in structural bioinformatics with seventy peer-reviewed publications to his credit. During his career he has been funded by various entities including the Heart Foundation, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the US Army and Air Force biotechnology grant, and the National Institute of Health. His anti-sickling compound for sickle cell anemia is still one of the most potent compounds in the literature to date. He has won numerous awards over his career including a NATO competition for peptide sequencing. At Bharath Genomix, as part of scientific leadership team, Dr. Karan has run various genotype programs to evaluate the genotype and subsequently phenotype frequencies of various patient populations. Dr. Karan has also mentored numerous thesis students and is instrumental in the research career development at Bharath Genomix.
Chief Bioinformaticion
Dr Kottalam has high credentials, a M.S from Chennai IIT and Ph.D in Michigan univ. He worked with Nobel Laurette Dr. Karplus at Harvard univ and Cray computers and accelrys system. He led the Bioinformatics group at Structural Bioinformatics at San Diego. Dr. Kottalam has also mentored numerous thesis students and is the leader in our bioinformatics group and responsible for phenotype prediction and annotation development at Bharath Genomix.
